WHO DOESN’T KNOW GANGNAM STYLE

I am sooo into it, and for multiple reasons too. Gangnam Style being a good song is not really one of the first reasons that comes too mind, but still there are some things I really like. Ofcourse, there’s the crazy dance like you’re on an invisible horse, what’s up with that?! It cracks me up all the time, so I love it for the fact that it makes me laugh so hard. If I’m cranky or anything, I switch to Gangnam Style vids for an instant happy boost.
Second, I never thought I’d see the day when K-pop would be played on Dutch radio (or anywhere else outside Asia for that matter). Now everyone gets to have a taste of some Asian awesomeness.

Check out this video of PSY and his dancers bringing down the Ellen house!

Crazy right? Well, now for some backgrounds. Gangnam is apparently a district of Seoul, South Korea, where people are hip and trendy and live the ‘classy life’. The term was listed in Time’s weekly vocabulary list as a manner associated with lavish lifestyles in Seoul’s Gangnam district. PSY compared the Gangnam District to Beverly Hills, California, USA, and said in an interview that he intended a twisted sense of humor by claiming himself to be “Gangnam Style” when everything about the song, dance, looks, and the music video is far from being such a high class.
The song’s refrain “오빤 강남 스타일 (Oppan Gangnam style)” has been translated as “I live a Gangnam style”, with Psy referring to himself; “Oppa” is a Korean expression used by females to refer to an older male friend or older brother.

Now who would’ve known? Enough of the background blabber, let’s get loose on GANGNAM STYLEEEE.
