Koda Kumi – flower
2. flower ~acoustic version~
3. flower (Instrumental)
4. flower ~acoustic version~ (Instrumental)
flower is the seventeenth single by Japanese singer Koda Kumi, released on August 10, 2005. The single reached #4 on Oricon charts and charted for 10 weeks. It sold 36,859 units in it’s first week and the most recent figures show that it sold a total of 106,099 units.
This era features some of Kuu’s best singles ever released in the same period, so I’m glad to announce that flower is an amazing midtempo song with a great ambience. It’s a nice hybrid of R&B with a little bit of ballad influences, but it’s not really a slow song. The beat is smooth, as is the way in every R&B song, there are some synths involved but it’s funny there are some cute accents from high strings and bells too. Great vocals as well.
flower ~acoustic version~ is the alternate version, consisting of only Kumi’s lovely voice, a piano and later a violin. I think I can’t choose between the two versions, this one is so beautiful and heartwarming while the original is so happy-go-lucky. At least both versions work perfectly.
I don’t think I have anything to add from this point, I think it’s very clear that even though this single only features one song (in two versions), it’s the perfect one and you’d just wanna make love to this song, really ❤ It doesn’t have a PV, it sold less copies than ‘Butterfly’, but I like this one soooo much more. Big fan of this song.
