JJ Project – Bounce

1. Bounce
2. 꽂혔어
3. 이 노래가 끝나기 전에 (feat. Suzy)
4. Bounce (Inst.)

Bounce is the debut single by Korean pop male duo JJ Project, released on May 20, 2012.

This single review was requested by my friend Yuanting ^^

Bounce opens with a really catchy and fast hiphop beat and some altered vocals chanting the title word, before the actual song drops in. And I must say, this track is all over the place: first this rap segment comes in (a pretty good one though), then you find the guys singing to a catchy synthpop beat and then suddenly there’s a hard rock part. It’s one of the most creative tracks I’ve heard in a long time.

The next song is even better. 꽂혔어 again features all the different elements the previous track had: rap segments, regular singing, the only difference is that the focus is more on the overall rock arrangement now with only some hints to hiphop. This really sounds like a happy song and I have to admit its chorus is even catchier than Bounce‘s.

이 노래가 끝나기 전에 features Miss A member Suzy, and it’s more of a techno club banger. The track features heavy synth riffs and altered vocals in the case of Jr. and JB, Suzy on the other hand sounds pretty natural. To be quite honest, she’s  the one who keeps this track together with her performance, the guys don’t seem to put much effort in theirs. Nonetheless, this track is amazing as well.

I hope these guys come up with some new material in the future, for their debut single is very good and shows different sides of their musical talent. And when you come to think of it, these guys are only 17 and 18 years old, they have an actual talent for both rapping and singing with a great sense of energy. Their musical style is apparently one that throws together some different genres into one track, of which the best example is Bounce. I really enjoyed this single and I recommend Bounce and 꽂혔어!

4½ stars

Those guys really are ALL OVER THE PLACE xD
