SINGLE REVIEW
Namie Amuro – Go Round / YEAH-OH

1. Go Round
2. YEAH-OH
3. Go Round (Instrumental)
4. YEAH-OH (Instrumental)

Go Round / YEAH-OH is the 37th single by Japanese singer Namie Amuro, released on March 21, 2012. It was released in two versions: a CD+DVD edition and a CD-only edition. “Go Round” was used as Kose’s “ESPRIQUE PRECIOUS” commercial song.

Go Round is a very nice synth heavy track and it immediately confirms why I’ve been looking forward to this single. I don’t know how she does it, but her past era has been so enjoyable, and this is no exception. The chorus sounds really uplifting, although I suspect a little autotune use when Namie hits the higher notes while singing ‘go round, go round, go round‘. Love the beat in this song, borderline perfection.

Great to hear that YEAH-OH is another uptempo song with a lot of synths and beats. It’s a bit more mysterious than Go Round but I actually really like her vocals in this song. Namie sounds way better when she’s singing in a much lower pitch. I love her line ‘we’re singing YEAH-OH, singing YE-E-EAH-OH’. The song reaches a peak near the bridge when she repeats the chanting and kind of raps the bridge. This is a song with a great attitude and also a great party track!

My goodness, can I put this on repeat? Only two new songs but those two tracks really made my day. I have come to love Namie for the past couple of years, but when she released ‘NAKED / Fight Together / Tempest’ and ‘Sit! Stay! Wait! Down! / Love Story’ she really caught my attention. JUST GIVE ME THAT ALBUM ALRIGHT. This woman is at the top of her game now, and this awesome uptempo double A-sider proved it. Speechless over here.
