Minna de ne ~PANDA with Candy BEAR’s~ / Ikiru is the 16th Japanese single by Tibetan singer alan. It was released in three different versions: two CD+DVD editions and a CD only edition. “Minna de ne ~PANDA with Candy BEAR’s~” was used as an image song for the character “Candy BEAR’s”, which was created to promote two giant pandas arrived at Ueno Zoo in Tokyo from China.

The minute I heard the first notes of Minna de ne ~PANDA with Candy BEAR’s~ and saw the cute animation PV, I fell in love with the entire song, also because it’s very variated. It’s cute, poppy and there’s even a traditional erhu and wailing part somewhere in there. alan sounds like her own erhu, she displays such outstanding vocals here. I’m glad this is not overly cute because that wouldn’t have fit her at all, she just mixes a lot of different things to create one of her most enjoyable summer pop songs ever. ‘Konichiwaaaaaa…’

I was very curious about Ikiru because that was the only song of the two of which I didn’t see a sneak preview of the PV. Very surprisingly, it’s a pop ballad with a piano and some very soft percussion sounds in the background. The synth riffs in some parts make it sound a bit like a Kuu song, but this song actually has ‘alan’ written all over it. The song is a bit slow, but it’s sweet and very enjoyable. I prefer the previous track over this one, but just slightly.

alan delivered another great single and I’m looking forward to her next album, which was said to be released later this year… CAN’T WAIT! She’s not the type to release special summer singles like Koda Kumi, but the first song did sound like a real summer pop song perfectly fitting for this time of year. With every release, everytime I’m glad I noticed her music about two and a half years ago, she is such an addition to the Asian music industry. She proves herself over and over again, including with this lovely single, and I can’t wait to receive news about her next studio album!
