SINGLE REVIEW
Lady Gaga – Born This Way

1. Born This Way

Born This Way is the ninth single by American singer-songwriter Lady Gaga, and it was released on February 11, 2011. It peaked the charts on over 20 charts in 17 different countries, including Japan, Hungary and the Netherlands. The single was certified 2x Platinum in Australia, Platinum in New Zealand and Gold in Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Sweden.

I think I’ll never stop loving Gaga, even though her looks are terrible now and she lost her natural and healthy curvy look. Her songs are as catchy as ever, and Born This Way is no exception. This song is ready to be played in a club and get people on the dancefloor. It’s a good example of a good flowing electropop song with catchy synths and a very nice percussion beat. I love Gaga’s voice, and she definitely doesn’t disappoint here. She was born an artist, that’s easy to tell, her vocals really nailed it here. Sometimes her normal singing voice is mixed with a lower pitched autotune vocal, done by Gaga herself, and the mixture is very appealing. With the lyrics, she also has a point, it doesn’t matter who you are, as long as you love yourself. I think this song can help out people who are very insecure about themselves. I think, with this song, they can always remember: Don’t be a drag, just be a queen!

The MV, what shall I say about that… Ehr, maybe in one word: WEIRD. The extended version is even weirder, including an entire plot about the birth of both a perfect new race within humanity ‘with no prejudice, no judgement, but boundless freedom’ and an evil race. She even gives birth in the video, and the effects shows are really weird. The dances in the video are very strange as well if you ask me, but then again everyone has his/her own style. The skull girl outfit with the pink wig and tux is ehm… interesting,. Gaga 😄 Made me laugh hardcore. But just don’t get me wrong about the vid, I think it’s daring and I can’t help but liking it because it’s so different. Gaga really set a statement here!
